PM Modi raises seafarer safety concerns before Trump at G7 Summit following Hormuz tragedy

PM Narendra Modi raised concerns over the safety of global maritime routes and seafarers while addressing the G7 Outreach Session, attended by US President Donald Trump.

His remarks came days after three Indian sailors were killed in a US military strike on a merchant vessel in the Gulf of Oman amid tensions linked to the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking on global security and international cooperation, Modi stressed that maritime trade routes must remain secure and that seafarers should be able to carry out their duties without fear.

He noted that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have affected global commerce and resulted in the loss of Indian lives.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and trust among nations in resolving international conflicts.

The remarks are being viewed as a subtle but significant message to the United States, which has faced criticism in India following the deaths of the three Indian crew members.

The incident has sparked diplomatic concerns and renewed calls for greater protection of civilian shipping and maritime workers in conflict zones.
