Devotee dies after electrocution from water spray cooler near ISKCON Temple in Vrindavan

A tragic incident occurred in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, where a 21-year-old devotee lost his life after allegedly receiving an electric shock from a water spray cooler installed near the ISKCON Temple.
The victim, identified as Abhigyan Gupta from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, had visited the temple with his father for darshan when the accident took place.
According to reports, the electrocution occurred near the temple's shoe stand area, where the Mathura Municipal Corporation had installed cooling equipment to provide relief to devotees from the summer heat.
Witnesses said the young man came into contact with the cooler, which was allegedly carrying electric current. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The victim's family has accused authorities of negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible.
Local police have launched an investigation, while officials are examining whether faulty maintenance or an electrical malfunction led to the tragedy.
The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety arrangements at crowded religious sites during the pilgrimage season.
