PM Modi condoles death of Veteran Singer Suman Kalyanpur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the passing of veteran playback singer Suman Kalyanpur, who died at the age of 89 in Mumbai due to age-related health issues. In his condolence message, the Prime Minister said her melodious voice and soulful renditions left a lasting impact on India’s cultural and musical heritage.

Suman Kalyanpur was one of the most respected voices in Indian playback music, rising to prominence during the 1960s and 1970s. She carved a niche for herself in the industry despite being contemporaneous with legendary singers of the era. Her songs became widely popular among music lovers and remain cherished classics in Indian cinema.

Paying tribute on social media, PM Modi said he was anguished by her passing and acknowledged her contribution to Indian music.
