Odisha Bus-Truck Collision: 4 Killed, Over 20 Injured in Sundergarh Road Accident

At least 4people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a tragic road accident in Odisha’s Sundergarh district after a bus collided head-on with a truck on National Highway 143.

The accident occurred late Tuesday night under the Chandiposh police station limits when the bus was travelling from Rourkela to Mangalpur in Jajpur district. According to police, both the bus driver and the truck driver are among those who lost their lives.

2victims died on the spot, while 2 others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Several passengers were trapped inside the mangled bus and had to be rescued by cutting through parts of the vehicle.

Preliminary accounts suggest that the bus driver may have lost control of the vehicle, hitting the road divider before crashing into the oncoming truck. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the bus.

The injured were immediately rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital and Lahunipada hospital for treatment. Officials said the condition of at least five passengers remains critical.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
