N. Rangasamy resigns as Puducherry CM

N Rangasamy resigned as Chief Minister of Puducherry and submitted his resignation to Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan at Lok Bhavan.
Soon after stepping down, Rangasamy told reporters that he would meet the Lieutenant Governor again to stake claim for forming the next government.
His resignation comes as part of the post-election formalities after his alliance, the NDA, secured a majority in the 30-member Assembly.
The All India NR Congress (AINRC)-led alliance has emerged comfortably ahead, winning 18 seats, while the BJP won four seats and other NDA partners also secured representation. Together, the alliance has a clear majority in the House.
On the opposition side, the DMK won five seats, the Congress secured one seat, and the emerging Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won two seats.
Sources indicate that Rangasamy is likely to return as Chief Minister for a fifth term, with discussions underway on selecting an auspicious time for the swearing-in ceremony.
