Mrs Kerala Global 2025 Runner-up Harsha Sunny arrested in ₹11.82 crore Marijuana smuggling case

Kerala-based model Harsha Sunny has been arrested by Customs officials at Mumbai airport for allegedly smuggling high-grade hydroponic marijuana valued at ₹11.82 crore.

The 28-year-old, who was the runner-up in the Mrs Kerala Global 2025 beauty pageant, was intercepted after arriving from Bangkok. Authorities reportedly became suspicious of her behaviour during routine surveillance and conducted a detailed search of her luggage.

Officials from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) and Customs Department recovered 12 vacuum-sealed packets containing over 11 kg of hydroponic marijuana. Preliminary testing using an NDPS field kit confirmed the seized substance as a banned narcotic. Following the recovery, Sunny was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to investigators, Sunny claimed she had befriended an individual during her Thailand trip who allegedly persuaded her to carry the bag to India. Authorities are now probing the intended destination of the consignment and whether she was linked to a larger drug trafficking network.

Sunny, known for her modelling assignments and social media presence, has over 11,000 followers on Instagram. Her most recent posts featured photographs from Bangkok, where she had travelled before her arrest.

She was produced before a Mumbai court and has been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing, with agencies examining possible interstate drug distribution links and international trafficking connections.
