5 personnel feared dead in IAF AN-32 Aircraft crash during landing in Assam’s Jorhat

An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Rowriah Air Force Station in Assam’s Jorhat on Saturday, with five Air Force personnel feared dead in the accident.
According to IAF officials, the aircraft went down inside the airbase premises during the landing process. The pilot is among those feared killed, while the co-pilot survived the crash and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
In an official statement, the Indian Air Force confirmed that the aircraft involved was an AN-32 cargo plane used for transporting supplies. Rescue teams were immediately deployed to the crash site after the incident.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Air Force authorities have launched an investigation, and a Court of Inquiry is being constituted to establish the circumstances that led to the accident.
Officials said information regarding the remaining crew members was still being verified. Emergency response operations and assessment efforts are continuing at the crash site inside the Rowriah Air Force Station.
The AN-32 is one of the Indian Air Force’s primary transport aircraft and is widely used for logistics, troop movement and supply missions, particularly in remote and high-altitude regions.
