IAF Joins rescue operations as flash floods ravage Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has joined rescue and relief operations in Arunachal Pradesh’s flood-hit Keyi Panyor district after flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall caused widespread destruction and disrupted connectivity in the region.

According to officials, the Arunachal Pradesh government activated emergency air support after flash floods struck the Poosa area of Keyi Panyor. Acting on a request from the district administration, the Department of Civil Aviation coordinated with the Eastern Air Command of the IAF to airlift State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and rescue equipment to affected locations.

Despite challenging weather conditions, IAF teams successfully transported SDRF personnel and essential relief materials from the Itanagar Capital Region to Pitapool, strengthening ongoing rescue efforts in the district. Authorities have indicated that additional air support missions may be launched depending on the evolving situation.

The flash floods, triggered by incessant rainfall, have caused extensive damage to homes, roads and infrastructure. Reports indicate that several structures were swept away, while multiple districts have been affected by landslides and road blockages, leaving some areas temporarily cut off from the rest of the state.

Rescue teams, including SDRF and other disaster management agencies, are continuing search and relief operations amid difficult terrain and ongoing rainfall. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and assessing the full extent of the damage.
