Karnataka tourist dies after being swept away by rough waves at Goa’s Baga Beach

A tourist from Karnataka lost his life after being swept away by powerful waves while sitting on rocks at Goa’s popular Baga Beach, officials said. The victim was identified as Sahas Ashpak Masali, a resident of Vijayapura (Bijapur) district.
According to authorities, Masali was sitting on rocks along the shoreline when strong waves generated by rough sea conditions suddenly dragged him into the water. Witnesses said the sea was turbulent, making rescue efforts difficult.
A search and rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident. After several hours of searching, rescue teams recovered his body from the shoreline. A video purportedly showing the incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the dangers posed by rough seas during the monsoon season.
Officials said tourists are repeatedly advised to stay away from rocky stretches and avoid entering the sea during periods of high tide and rough weather. Authorities warned that powerful waves can strike unexpectedly, making coastal rocks particularly hazardous.
The incident has once again raised concerns over tourist safety at beaches during the monsoon, when strong currents and rough sea conditions increase the risk of accidents.
