Hoax bomb threat to blow up Delhi's Red Fort triggers security alert

A hoax bomb threat targeting Delhi's historic Red Fort triggered a high-security alert in the national capital, prompting an extensive search operation by security agencies before authorities declared the threat to be false.

According to police officials, the threat call was initially received at the Mumbai Police Control Room, where the caller claimed that the Red Fort would be blown up. Mumbai Police immediately alerted the Delhi Police Control Room, following which the information was passed to the North District Police.

Acting swiftly, Delhi Police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad, dog squad and other security personnel, launched a comprehensive anti-sabotage check and sanitisation exercise at the Red Fort and surrounding areas.

After an extensive search, officials found no suspicious object or explosive material and confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax. Security agencies have since launched an investigation to trace the origin of the call and identify the person responsible.

The incident briefly heightened security around one of the country's most important heritage sites before normalcy was restored.
