46-Year-old man dies of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa, first COVID death in 4 years

A 46-year-old man has died of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district after four days of treatment, prompting health authorities to launch contact tracing and containment measures.

According to Kadapa District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Ravi Babu, the man, a resident of the Masapeta area, was admitted to a local hospital with severe breathlessness and persistent cough. He also had a history of alcohol addiction.

Doctors initially treated him with high-dose antibiotics, but his condition failed to improve. An X-ray revealed extensive damage to both lungs, resulting in pneumonia. A subsequent CT scan confirmed that he had contracted COVID-19.

Following the confirmation, the district administration initiated sanitisation of the affected area and began tracing the deceased's primary and secondary contacts to prevent further transmission. Health officials said all necessary containment protocols have been put in place.

Authorities have urged people to remain vigilant and seek immediate medical attention if they experience respiratory symptoms, while continuing to follow public health advisories.
