Gujarat tops India in renewable energy with 50.386 GW installed capacity

Gujarat has emerged as India's leading renewable energy state with a total installed renewable energy capacity of 50.386 GW, including 15,850.56 MW of wind power and 32,302.7 MW of solar power, according to the Chief Minister's Office. The state now contributes 17.82 per cent of India's total renewable energy capacity.

The state ranks first in installed wind power capacity and second in solar power capacity. Gujarat has also installed more than 1.3 million rooftop solar systems, generating 7,408.10 MW, reflecting its strong push towards clean energy adoption.

Ground-mounted solar projects account for 23,259.27 MW of the state's solar capacity, while hybrid projects contribute 1,434.66 MW and off-grid systems, including those under the PM KUSUM scheme, add 200.48 MW. Major solar parks such as Charanka, Radhanesda and Dholera continue to strengthen Gujarat's renewable energy ecosystem.

The state is also home to the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, which is being developed as the world's largest renewable energy park with a planned capacity of 37.35 GW. Around 15.54 GW has already been commissioned.

Gujarat has commissioned 2,838.07 MW of wind-solar hybrid projects under its renewable energy policies and has created an estimated 2.37 lakh direct and indirect jobs through the sector. To facilitate project implementation, the state has also launched the Akshay Urja Setu online portal for streamlined grid connectivity.

With 1,531 renewable energy projects currently under development, Gujarat has set a target of achieving 105 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, supporting India's goal of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity.
