Greater Noida Dowry Death: postmortem reveals brain bleed, ruptured organs

The postmortem report of 24-year-old Deepika Nagar, whose family alleged she was murdered over dowry demands in Greater Noida, has revealed severe internal injuries, including brain bleeding and ruptured organs.

According to the report accessed by PTI, Deepika suffered a hematoma in the middle and left side of the brain, indicating internal bleeding. The report also stated that her liver, spleen and right kidney were ruptured.

Doctors further noted multiple contusions on her arm and thigh, while bleeding was found from her mouth and left nostril. Viscera samples have been preserved for forensic examination to determine the presence of any toxic substance.

Deepika died on Sunday night after allegedly falling from the terrace of her matrimonial home in Jalpura village under the Ecotech-3 police station area in Greater Noida.

Her family has strongly rejected the suicide or accident theory, alleging that she was murdered by her in-laws over dowry demands for a Toyota Fortuner SUV and additional cash amounting to ₹45-50 lakh.

Police have arrested Deepika’s husband Hrithik and father-in-law Manoj in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to trace other accused named in the FIR registered under dowry death provisions.

The victim’s father alleged that Deepika had called him hours before her death, claiming she was being assaulted by her in-laws. He also questioned inconsistencies in the statements given by the accused regarding how she allegedly fell.

Police said videography of the postmortem was conducted and further sections may be added depending on forensic findings and the progress of the investigation.
