Delhi Begins Online Self-Enumeration for Census 2027 Across MCD Wards

Delhi on Friday launched the online self-enumeration process for Census 2027, allowing residents to digitally submit their household details across all Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) wards.
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta were among the first to complete the process on the opening day, encouraging citizens to participate in the initiative.
The chief minister described the process as simple and secure, emphasising that accurate data collection is essential for designing effective public policies and ensuring benefits reach those in need.
The digital-first initiative enables residents to directly enter their household information through the official Census portal. Authorities said this approach aims to improve accuracy and ensure that every individual is properly counted, contributing to better governance and planning.
Participation in the self-enumeration exercise is voluntary and open to all residents living in MCD areas, regardless of domicile status. Only one login per household is required, and the process can be completed by the head of the family or any member using a registered mobile number.
Users will need to select a preferred language at the time of login, which cannot be changed later. The portal supports 16 languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, and Urdu, and includes built-in guidance tools to assist users.
Residents will also be required to provide geo-coordinates of their homes, either by selecting the location on a digital map, searching the address, or manually entering latitude and longitude. Upon submission, an 11-digit self-enumeration ID will be generated.
This ID must be presented to census officials during door-to-door verification, scheduled from May 16 to June 14 under the houselisting and housing operations phase.
Officials said self-enumeration will continue until May 15 across 250 MCD wards. A toll-free helpline has also been set up to assist residents with the process.
