The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has announced the summer vacation schedule for all government schools under the Directorate of Education, along with special remedial classes for selected students.

According to the official notification, Delhi government schools will observe summer vacation from May 11 to June 30, 2026.

However, remedial classes for students of Classes 9, 10, and 12 will be conducted from May 11 to May 23, 2026, depending on the availability of teachers in respective schools.

The objective of these remedial sessions is to strengthen core academic concepts and improve learning outcomes among students.

For Classes 9 and 10, the focus of remedial teaching will primarily be on Science and Mathematics, while school heads have been given the flexibility to include other subjects based on academic requirements and performance analysis.

For Class 12 students, schools will decide the subjects for remedial classes depending on individual academic needs.

The Delhi government has directed all schools to conduct these sessions within school premises based on feasibility.

Timings for Remedial Classes

Teachers will report from 7:20 am to 11:00 am, while students will attend classes from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.

Each day will consist of three one-hour periods:

  • 1st period: 7:30 am to 8:30 am
  • 2nd period: 8:30 am to 9:30 am
  • 3rd period: 9:30 am to 10:30 am

Guidelines Issued by Delhi Government

School authorities have been instructed to ensure that remedial class schedules are prepared before the start of summer vacation and submitted to the concerned DDE Zone.

Parents and students must be informed through available communication channels, and attendance will be recorded online.

Wearing school uniforms will be mandatory for students attending remedial classes.

Schools must also obtain parental consent before enrolling students in these sessions.

Teachers are expected to provide individual attention to help improve student performance, while library facilities will remain open for self-study and book access.

School heads will be responsible for ensuring basic facilities such as drinking water and cleanliness.

Guest and contractual teachers may also be engaged if required.

Additionally, teachers assigned for remedial classes during the vacation period will be granted earned leave as per rules.
