3-year-old allegedly assaulted at Delhi playschool; four booked

A case has been registered against the director, principal, a teacher and a caretaker of a playschool in northeast Delhi's Jafrabad area following the alleged assault of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy, police sources said on Sunday, August 30.
The four have been booked under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Juvenile Justice Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the sources said.
Police received a complaint regarding the alleged assault and the child was medically examined at GTB Hospital. A joint medical examination was also conducted, they said.
The child's family alleged that he was beaten at the playschool and subjected to inappropriate conduct. They approached the police after noticing changes in his behaviour, including alleged difficulty sleeping and fear of using the toilet.
Police have seized CCTV footage from the school and are examining it as part of the investigation.
The allegations are being verified on the basis of the CCTV footage, medical examination reports and other available evidence, police said.
No arrests have been made so far, they added.
