Elderly couple found dead under suspicious circumstances in Jhansi

Two elderly persons were found dead at their home in the Sipri Bazar area of Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district, with police suspecting that they may have died four to five days ago.

The deceased were identified as Vishwanath, aged around 70, and his wife Bhuvan Devi, 65, police said.

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Preeti Singh, their son Jaspal, a resident of Masihaganj, informed police late Saturday evening that his parents, who lived in a separate house nearby, had been found dead.

Police reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the couple.

Prima facie, the couple appeared to have died around four or five days ago, Singh said.

The couple lived separately from the rest of their family, police said, adding that the circumstances surrounding their deaths were being investigated.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause and time of death, police said.

Further investigation is underway.
