Delhi Police's 'Operation Chakra' nets 193 arrests, 154 cases in 72 hours

Delhi Police arrested 193 people and registered 154 cases during a 72-hour crackdown against criminal activities in the North district, officials said on Sunday, August 30.
The operation, dubbed 'Operation Chakra', was conducted from August 24 to 27, with police teams carrying out checking, patrolling, searches and surveillance at strategic locations.
The drive targeted illicit liquor, drugs, illegal arms and gambling, police said.
As many as 63 people were arrested under the Excise Act, while police seized 10,122 bottles of illicit liquor and a car.
Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 21 people were arrested. Police recovered 1.975 kg of ganja, 39.2 grams of heroin, 544 grams of charas, 240 buprenorphine tablets and 500 Avil injections.
Another 22 people were arrested under the Arms Act, with police recovering 22 knives, three country-made pistols and two live cartridges.
The crackdown also resulted in the arrest of 87 people in gambling-related cases. Police seized Rs 1.69 lakh, two mobile phones and playing cards, while 50 cases were registered under the Gambling Act.
Four stolen two-wheelers were also recovered during the operation, officials said.
Further action is underway, police added.
