CRPF DG orders round-the-clock vigil along Amarnath Yatra route

The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has directed the field commanders to scale up counter-terror operations on higher ridges while maintaining strict, round-the-clock vigil along the Amarnath yatra route to ensure peaceful conduct of the annual pilgrimage beginning July 3.

These directions were passed by the DG CRPF GP Singh while chairing a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar during his three-day visit to the valley.

According to a post on X by CRPF India, DG CRPF, GP Singh, chaired a high-level meeting with the senior officials and commanders of CRPF in Srinagar.

During the meeting, DG CRPF directed the commanders to scale up counter-terror operations on higher ridges while maintaining strict, round-the-clock vigil across the plains.

According to official sources, the central paramilitary forces dispatched for the yatra duty have started taking charge of their areas of operation to ensure incident-free conduct of the yatra. 

According to a post by CRPF India on X, DG CRPF stressed on enhancing security grids to maintain peace & normalcy for a safe and incident-free Shri Amarnath ji Yatra 2026.

Meanwhile, as the situation remains highly volatile in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur district on Tuesday and reviewed its operational preparedness, capability development, and ongoing modernisation initiatives.

“General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, visited Northern Command and reviewed its operational preparedness, capability development and modernisation initiatives,” the Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) said on X.

During the visit on Tuesday, the army chief was briefed on the conduct of multi-domain operations, technology absorption, infrastructure development and integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of military operations, officials said.

Interacting with officers of the Northern Command and various formation headquarters through a hybrid format, General Dwivedi emphasised the importance of harnessing emerging technologies and fostering innovation to enhance operational effectiveness in an increasingly dynamic security environment, the ADGPI said.

He also reviewed measures aimed at strengthening operational capabilities and ensuring readiness to meet evolving security challenges. Commending all ranks for their unwavering commitment and operational excellence, he lauded their sustained efforts in maintaining a high state of combat readiness.

The visit forms part of the Army’s ongoing focus on transformation, networking and data-centric warfare capabilities to strengthen operational effectiveness and preparedness, officials added.
