Executive Magistrate releases three CJP leaders detained ahead of Delhi protest

An Executive Magistrate on Sunday released Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka from detention, following their preventive arrest by Delhi Police ahead of the party’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar.
The three leaders were detained after their flight landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday. They were travelling to Delhi to join the protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Delhi Police had planned to produce the three before an Executive Magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station on Sunday.
Their release comes amid heightened security across the national capital, with police detaining protesters at multiple locations to prevent them from reaching Jantar Mantar.
The CJP had announced that it would continue demonstrations until its demands were met.
