Assam Rifles, Cachar Police seize narcotics worth Rs 9.5 crore; two women arrested

In a major anti-drug operation, the Assam Rifles and Cachar Police jointly seized narcotics worth an estimated ₹9.5 crore in Assam's Cachar district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the security forces intercepted a consignment near Tollengram on June 30 and recovered 30,000 Yaba tablets along with 535 grams of Heroin No. 4.
The contraband was cleverly concealed inside jars of red chilli powder in an apparent attempt to evade detection.

During the operation, two women from Tamenglong district in neighbouring Manipur were arrested. The recovered narcotics and the accused have been handed over to Cachar Police for further investigation. Officials are now working to trace the source of the drugs and identify the larger trafficking network behind the smuggling attempt.

The latest seizure is part of a series of successful anti-narcotics operations carried out by Assam Rifles and state police in the Northeast. Security agencies have intensified surveillance along interstate and international routes to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the flow of narcotics into the region.
