Abhay settles for silver after losing to higher-ranked Malaysian in men's final

India's Abhay Singh settled for a silver medal at the Asian Games after losing to Malaysia's Eain Yow Ng in the men's singles squash final here on Sunday.

Abhay, ranked 26th in the world, went down 9-11, 5-11, 5-11 against the world number 18 Malaysian, who successfully defended his Asian Games gold medal with a dominant performance.

The defeat was Abhay's eighth against Yow.

Abhay had become the second Indian to reach the men's singles final at the Asian Games, but could not mount a strong challenge against the higher-ranked Malaysian.

Meanwhile, Anahat Singh, the first Indian to reach the women's singles final at the Asian Games, is scheduled to face Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam in the title clash later on Sunday.

Anahat booked her place in the final with a remarkable comeback win over Japan's Satomi Watanabe.
