6 killed, 26 injured in triple vehicle collision on Mumbai-Agra Highway in Dhule

At least 6 people were killed and 26 others injured in a massive triple vehicle collision near Laling Ghat in Maharashtra’s Dhule district on the Mumbai-Agra Highway early Monday, police said.
According to officials, the accident began when a sand-laden dumper rammed into a truck on the highway. Soon after the initial collision, toll plaza staff and a highway patrolling team rushed to the spot to rescue the injured and clear the damaged vehicles.
However, during the rescue efforts, a speeding passenger bus crashed into the already damaged truck and dumper, triggering a devastating pile-up.
Police said a toll plaza employee was among the six people killed in the accident. Several passengers travelling in the bus also sustained injuries.
A total of 26 injured persons were first admitted to the Dhule District Hospital and later shifted to Hire Accident Hospital in Dhule for further treatment.
Rescue operations were carried out jointly by police personnel and district administration officials. Traffic movement on the Mumbai-Agra Highway was temporarily disrupted due to the accident before authorities cleared the route.
Officials said the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
