Shot fired as road rage turns violent in Faridabad

A routine morning commute turned violent in Haryana’s Faridabad on Friday when a road rage argument escalated into gunfire, leaving a motorcyclist with a narrowly escaped injury after a bullet grazed his face.
The incident took place around 10:30 am on Balaji College Road in the Ballabhgarh area under the Adarsh Nagar police station. The victim, identified as Vivek, was on his way to work when he encountered a man riding a two-wheeler rashly, with a woman seated behind him. According to the police and the victim’s account, Vivek objected to the reckless driving and asked the rider to be careful. What began as a caution quickly turned into a heated verbal exchange between the two.
Police said the accused then allegedly pulled out a pistol from his bag and pointed it at Vivek. As the situation escalated, Vivek attempted to snatch the weapon to prevent any harm. During the scuffle, the pistol went off. The bullet grazed Vivek’s face and passed by, leaving him with minor injuries. He managed to escape serious harm in what police described as a close call.
Recounting the incident, Vivek said, “I was going to my company for duty around 10.30 in the morning. Ahead of me, a young man and a woman were riding a bike in the wrong manner. When I asked him to drive properly, an argument started. Both of them began fighting with me. The man took out a pistol from his bag and pointed it at me.” He added, “I tried to snatch the pistol. During that, the shot was fired, and it passed by my face. Before he could fire again, I managed to take the pistol from him.”
Following the firing, the accused and the woman fled the spot in panic. In their haste, they left behind the two-wheeler, the pistol, and a bag at the scene. Hearing the gunshot, local residents gathered at the spot. Vivek immediately informed the police. Responding to the call, police reached the location and took possession of the firearm and the bag. The area was secured, and a preliminary investigation was initiated.
A case has been registered at Adarsh Nagar police station, and efforts are underway to trace the accused. Station House Officer Manoj Kumar said, “We are searching for the man and the woman who fled the scene after firing the shot. CCTV footage of both has surfaced, and they will soon be arrested.”
Police spokesperson Yashpal confirmed that teams have been deployed to identify and locate the accused. “Police reached the spot immediately after receiving information. We are searching for the man and the woman who fled after the firing. CCTV footage has also come to light. Both accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
Officials said the abandoned two-wheeler may help in identifying the suspects. The seized weapon is also being examined as part of the investigation.
