Shooter held, weapon recovered

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a key shooter linked to the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan gang and recovered a loaded semi-automatic pistol from his hideout in Sainik Vihar, officials said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Deepak Kumar alias Dilawar (26), a resident of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly involved in a firing incident in Punjab and was operating on instructions from gang handlers. “This arrest is part of our sustained crackdown on organised crime networks operating across multiple states,” said DCP Praveen Kumar Tripathi of the Special Cell. “The accused was actively involved in violent activities linked to extortion cases and was trying to establish a base in Delhi.”
Police said the gang has been involved in multiple extortion cases across Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Punjab. In one such case in December 2025, gangster Virender Charan allegedly demanded Rs 10 crore from a Delhi-based jeweller. A case was registered at the Amar Colony police station and later transferred to the Special Cell.
During the investigation, five accused — Rohit, Rahul, Laxman, Mohit alias Cherry, and Pankaj Rajput — were arrested. Rajput, described as a notorious gangster, is wanted in over 20 cases in Punjab. Officials said the arrest of Rajput led to crucial leads about other gang members.
Investigators found that in 2025, Virender Charan had also demanded Rs 5 crore from Manish Bakshi, owner of a travel company in Nakodar, Punjab.
To pressure the victim, the gang allegedly ordered firing at Bakshi’s office on January 13, 2026.
