A shocking case from Maharashtra’s Pune district has sparked outrage after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her father following a dispute linked to school marks and marksheet tampering. The incident took place in Daund, where police arrested the girl’s father, Shantaram Duryodhan Chavan, along with his partner Chinki Bhonsle. Investigators said the accused allegedly killed the child in a fit of rage and later attempted to burn the body to destroy evidence. According to police, the victim, identified as Anamika, had secured second rank in her school examinations, while her stepbrother topped the class. Officials said the girl was allegedly mocked over the result, following which she reportedly altered her stepbrother’s marksheet. What reportedly began as a dispute between children soon escalated into violence. Police alleged that the father attacked the girl using a wood-cutting machine, resulting in her death on the spot.
