Seat dispute turns violent on Mumbai local train, passenger injured

A dispute over a seat on a Mumbai local train turned violent in the early hours of Thursday, leaving passengers injured after an altercation inside the coach. The incident occurred on an Ambernath-bound local train travelling between Dombivli and Thakurli stations shortly after midnight.
According to one injured passenger, a group of men confronted him while he was resting on a seat and allegedly assaulted him with a metal bracelet (kada), causing head injuries. He also claimed that the attackers attempted to push him out of the moving train before fellow passengers intervened and rescued him at Thakurli station.
However, the Government Railway Police (GRP) presented a different account, stating that a fight broke out between two passengers in the luggage compartment and that both sustained head injuries during the scuffle. A preliminary investigation found no evidence of a sharp weapon being used, with officials saying the injuries were caused when a metal bracelet struck one of the men during the altercation.
The injured were given medical treatment, and police have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events.
