Schools receive bomb threat emails

Panic gripped several parts of the national Capital on Monday after more than a dozen schools received bomb threat emails, triggering large-scale security deployment, precautionary evacuations and extensive searches by police and emergency agencies.
Officials said that at least eight of the threats were later found to be hoaxes, while investigations into the remaining alerts were continuing.
According to authorities, a total of 15 schools across different areas of Delhi reported receiving threatening emails during the morning hours. The emails contained disturbing and provocative language, including claims such as “Delhi will become Khalistan. Punjab is Khalistan. In memory of Afzal Guru.” The message also alleged that a blast would take place inside Parliament on February 13 at 1.11 pm, prompting heightened security alerts across the capital.
Senior officials said the threatening content was taken seriously, given the reference to Parliament, leading to coordination among multiple agencies, including Delhi Police, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), bomb disposal squads and intelligence units. “A total of 15 schools have reported receiving bomb threats so far. Fire service teams immediately reached the premises, and thorough checks are underway,” a Delhi Fire Services official said. He added that eight of the reported threats had been declared hoaxes after detailed inspections, while searches at other locations were still ongoing.
Emergency calls were received from schools located in various parts of the city, following which fire tenders, bomb detection and disposal squads and dog units were rushed to the affected premises.
As a precautionary measure, school authorities evacuated students and staff and shifted them to safe locations while security checks were carried out.
