SaveLIFE, Tata AIG equip Prayagraj health centres with advanced emergency gear

SaveLIFE Foundation, in collaboration with Tata AIG General Insurance Co Ltd, has provided upgraded emergency care equipment to the Community Health Centres (CHCs) at Jasra and Chaka. The initiative, part of the Zero Fatality District (ZFD) Programme, aims to enable the two CHCs to function as Trauma Stabilisation Facilities for road crash victims and other emergency cases, especially during the crucial “golden hour” after a crash.
An event to mark the handover was held at CHC Jasra on December 17 and was attended by Dr Ankita Pandey, Medical Superintendent, CHC Jasra; Devang Pandya, Vice-President and Lead–CSR and Sustainability, Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd; and representatives from SaveLIFE Foundation.
Dr RC Pandey, Additional Chief Medical Officer, Prayagraj, said appropriate trauma care during the initial hours after a crash can significantly improve patient outcomes. “We are thankful to SaveLIFE Foundation for upgrading the equipment at CHCs Jasra and Chaka. This initiative will strengthen our teams to stabilise patients and manage trauma cases more effectively,” he said.
Officials said the new equipment will help ensure faster treatment closer to crash sites, improving survival chances for victims in Jasra, Chaka and nearby areas. Between 2022 and 2025, CHC Jasra handled 188 crash-related cases, including 96 fatal crashes and 104 deaths. CHC Chaka recorded 776 crash cases, 184 of which were fatal, resulting in 205 deaths.
Tata AIG’s Devang Pandya said, “Road safety requires a coordinated approach that goes beyond prevention to include strong post-crash response systems. Through this CSR initiative with SaveLIFE Foundation, we aim to strengthen on-ground emergency response and support safer roads for all.” SaveLIFE Foundation founder and CEO Piyush Tewari said, “To save lives in road crashes, it is critical to strengthen emergency care at the district level. Upgrading CHC-level trauma care will ensure victims receive timely care closer to where crashes occur.”
