Musi project : Revanth Reddy asks officials to speed up land acquisition
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to expedite land acquisition for the government's Musi river rejuvenation project and asked them to formulate a policy for acquiring or pooling land in the river's Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones.
The chief minister stressed that the process should avoid legal disputes, according to an official release.
During a review meeting on the project, Reddy also directed officials to begin the tender process for its second phase.
He asked authorities to immediately invite tenders for renovation of the Lord Omkareshwara temple at Manchirevula, which is part of the wider Musi rejuvenation plan.
Officials were also directed to publicise and promote the birds park at Kotwalguda.
What is the Musi project?
The first phase of the Musi rejuvenation project covers a 21-km stretch of the river and has an estimated cost of around Rs 6,000 crore, according to official sources.
The project is a key component of the Telangana government's plans to redevelop the Musi river corridor, including improving the river environment and developing public spaces and infrastructure along its banks.
Land acquisition and the identification of properties within the river's FTL and buffer zones have been among the more sensitive aspects of the project, particularly because the process involves privately held land and existing settlements.
The government's latest direction to formulate a land pooling and acquisition policy indicates that securing the required land is now a priority as the project moves towards its next phase.
