Rajasthan Day celebrated at Delhi Secretariat

The Delhi Government on Monday organised a grand cultural event at the Delhi Secretariat to mark Rajasthan Day, with vibrant folk performances and participation from artists showcasing the State’s rich heritage.
The event, organised by the Department of Art, Culture and Languages through the Sahitya Kala Parishad, featured traditional music and dance forms of Rajasthan, drawing attention to the State’s cultural diversity. “Rajasthan has contributed tales of valor and a rich, diverse folk culture,” said Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, who attended the event and extended greetings to the people of Rajasthan.
Around 25 artists performed at the event, presenting well-known folk dance forms such as Kalbelia, Ghoomar, and Bhavai. The performances captivated the audience and highlighted Rajasthan’s traditional art forms.
Mishra said the event was part of a broader initiative by the Government to celebrate State Foundation Days in line with the vision of “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat” promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister, such celebrations are being organised to strengthen national unity,” he said.
The minister added that Rajasthan is globally recognised for its cultural richness, historical legacy, and traditions of bravery. He also acknowledged the contribution of people from Rajasthan living in Delhi towards the development of the national capital.
Officials said the programme aimed to promote cultural exchange and bring different communities together. It also focused on connecting the younger generation with India’s diverse traditions.”These initiatives aim to familiarise young people with the country’s cultural heritage and ensure that these traditions are passed on,” Mishra said.
The performances included the Kalbelia dance, known for its graceful movements and association with the Kalbelia community, and Ghoomar, a traditional group dance performed by women. Bhavai, which involves balancing acts and skillful choreography, was another highlight of the evening.
The event saw participation from government officials, artists, and members of the public. Organisers said such programmes play an important role in promoting cultural harmony in a diverse city like Delhi. Mishra emphasised that platforms like these help showcase India’s cultural richness while encouraging dialogue and understanding among communities.
Officials said the Delhi government plans to continue organising similar events to celebrate the cultural heritage of different states. These initiatives are expected to strengthen cultural ties and provide opportunities for artists to showcase their talent.
The Rajasthan Day celebration concluded with appreciation for the performers and organisers, with attendees acknowledging the effort to bring traditional art forms to a wider audience. The government said such cultural programmes are an important step towards preserving India’s artistic legacy while fostering unity in diversity.
