Rain, gusty winds bring relief to Delhi after hot day

Delhi witnessed rain and strong winds of up to 56 kmph on Monday evening, bringing relief after a warm and humid day, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the national Capital.
The sudden weather change disrupted the afternoon heat, with rainfall recorded across multiple stations between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm. According to data, Mayur Vihar recorded the highest rainfall at 1 mm, followed by Lodi Road at 0.7 mm, Ayanagar at 0.6 mm, and Safdarjung, Pusa, and Janakpuri at 0.5 mm each. Palam and Ridge recorded 0.2 mm of rainfall.
However, most parts of the city saw little to no rainfall earlier in the day. Between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm, only traces of very light rain were recorded at a few locations. Strong winds accompanied the showers in the late afternoon.
