PWD Minister kicks off major upgrade for Narela-Bawana road

Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, on Saturday, kick-started a major upgrade for the Narela-Bawana road, launching work on a precast RCC drain stretching from the Narela railway crossing to the DJB outfall.
Covering 9.5 km in total, 5 km on one side and 4.5 km on the other, the Rs 55 crore project is a key piece of Delhi’s master plan to tackle waterlogging with a lasting, well-structured fix.
“Precast technology allows us to build faster, with higher quality and less disruption. Our focus is on durable solutions and delivering tangible improvements for residents,” said Parvesh Sahib Singh.
The drain will be built using cutting-edge precast technology, in which each component is crafted in a controlled setting before being assembled on site. This method speeds up construction and ensures top-notch quality, strength, and consistency.
Govt issues SOP to ensure continuous monitoring of dewatering pumps
New Delhi: The Delhi Government has issued a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure continuous monitoring of dewatering pumps to avoid waterlogging during monsoon. The 10-point SOP issued by the Public Works Department (PWD) has listed out measures to be taken for traffic management, dewatering exercise, prevent damage to roads and ensure public safety during the monsoon season in the city.
According to the order, pumps will be “operated on auto mode wherever automation has been done and continuous monitoring of operations must be carried out to check for vibration, overheating, unusual noise, or leakage”.
