ED raids Punjab AAP chief Aman Arora aide minister says he will quit politics if found guilty

Punjab Aam Aadmi Party chief and cabinet minister Aman Arora said he was ready to face any investigation and would quit politics if any wrongdoing was proved against him following Enforcement Directorate raids linked to one of his close associates.
Arora’s remarks came a day after the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at multiple locations across Punjab and Chandigarh as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.
The Punjab minister’s name surfaced in connection with the ED action involving his alleged close associate, Gaurav Dhir.
Addressing reporters in Chandigarh, Arora alleged that attempts were being made to politically target and defame him.
He claimed that neither his name nor Gaurav Dhir’s name was mentioned in the ED’s initial statement issued after the raids.
According to Arora, the first statement referred only to “Gaurav Constructions”, while a revised statement released shortly afterwards included both his name and that of Dhir.
“This proves that my name was inserted only to politically target and malign me. I am ready for any kind of investigation. If any wrongdoing is proved against me in any probe, I will leave politics,” Arora said.
The AAP leader accused the BJP of engaging in “politics of intimidation and character assassination”.
He also stated that he had never heard of several individuals named in the case, including Suresh Kumar Bajaj, Ajay Sehgal, Nitin Goyal and Pritpal Singh Dhindsa, before Wednesday.
Speaking about Gaurav Dhir, Arora said the two shared a friendship of more than 22 years based on personal trust and affection, but denied having any business or financial dealings with him.
The Punjab minister further alleged that the ED had adopted a selective approach by excluding politically inconvenient details from its statements.
He claimed that one of the individuals named in the case, Suresh Kumar Bajaj, had donated ₹2.5 lakh to the BJP during the 2023-24 period, but this information was allegedly omitted.
The Enforcement Directorate has not yet issued any fresh statement responding to Arora’s allegations.
