Press oscillates between IPS and CAPF officers

For the past few decades, IPS officers and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) officers have been engaged in a legal battle over supremacy. CAPF officers recently secured victories in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court, though Governments have consistently supported IPS officers. In this ongoing contest, the media finds itself torn, as reporters must present both sides due to relationships with individuals in each group. Now, in response to the court verdicts, the Government has introduced a bill aiming to reestablish IPS supremacy in CAPF. As expected, CAPF officers are preparing to challenge this new act in court. Looking ahead, Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to table the new bill in Parliament next week, reaffirming support for the IPS perspective. This means journalists covering the Home Ministry will need to maintain balanced relationships with both uniformed services.
