By the close of FY26, the total transmission assets held by POWERGRID and its subsidiaries expanded to 1,84,960 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines, 291 substations, and a massive 6,24,016 MVA of transformation capacity. In a major structural shift, the POWERGRID Board also accorded formal approval for the merger and amalgamation of 28 wholly owned subsidiaries into two existing subsidiary companies. This streamlined Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) architecture is aimed at lowering overheads while significantly enhancing operational efficiency, management oversight, and corporate governance.
