Police reunite 102 missing persons with their families under Operation Milap

The South-West District Police reunited 102 missing persons, including 35 children and 67 adults, with their families during December 2025 under “Operation Milap.” The recoveries were made between December 1 and December 31, following coordinated searches across Delhi and neighbouring areas, police said on Thursday.
The district police said the month-long effort focused on swift action after missing complaints, with teams using CCTV footage, local intelligence and field enquiries at transit points such as bus stands, railway stations and markets. The December figures add to a larger annual record. In 2025, South-West District Police traced and reunited 1,303 missing persons, including 434 children and 869 adults. “This is not just about numbers. It is about bringing families back together,” said Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-West District. “Our teams worked with urgency and empathy. Every missing complaint was treated as a priority. We used technology, local inputs and sustained fieldwork to ensure safe recovery,” he said.
Police said that children in the age group of 10 to 18 years formed a significant part of the recoveries.
Many had gone missing after leaving home due to family disputes, academic stress or being influenced by peers, while adults were traced from workplaces, shelters or relatives’ homes in other states.
According to officials, local enquiries played a key role. Teams displayed photographs of missing persons at auto and e-rickshaw stands, bus terminals and railway stations.
Drivers, conductors and vendors were asked to track movements. Hospital records and data from nearby police stations were also checked regularly.
