Police bust LPG black-marketing racket

Delhi Police has busted an illegal LPG hoarding and black-marketing racket in southwest Delhi’s Chhawla area, recovering 65 cylinders and arresting a 52-year-old man accused of selling gas at inflated prices.
The raid was carried out on March 24 by a joint team of the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Dwarka district and local police from Chhawla, following specific intelligence about illegal storage and sale of LPG cylinders from a residential premises. Dwarka DCP Kushal Pal Singh said the district police had intensified surveillance on hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities. “We are maintaining strict vigil and taking action against illegal activities involving essential supplies,” he said, adding that such operations will continue to ensure public safety.
Police identified the accused as Ashok Kumar, a resident of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, who was operating from a house in Kashmiri Colony on Paprawat Road in Prem Nagar, Chhawla.
According to officials, the premises were being used to stockpile both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders. The accused allegedly procured cylinders through unauthorised channels and sold them to local residents and small businesses at higher rates.
