Police bust interstate drug syndicate

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an interstate drug syndicate operating across Delhi-NCR and arrested two key suppliers on Tuesday. The police have also recovered over 2 kg of heroin worth more than Rs 10 crore. According to the police, the arrests were made in two separate operations in Dwarka and East Delhi.
The accused have been identified as Anshul Rana, a resident of Inderpuri, and Ganga Parshad, alias Vicky, a resident of Madipur. Police said a total of 2.034 kg of heroin was seized from Rana’s possession.
A scooty used to supply the contraband and six mobile phones allegedly used to run the syndicate were also recovered. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Harsh Indora said the operation was a major strike against organised narcotics networks active in the Capital.
“The recovery of over two kilograms of heroin shows the scale at which these syndicates operate. We are committed to dismantling the entire supply chain,” Indora said, adding that further investigation is underway to identify more links.
According to the Crime Branch, the operation was launched after a tip-off received by a police official. The informer said Rana was supplying heroin in large quantities across Delhi-NCR and would arrive near Queens Valley School in Dwarka’s Sector 8 to deliver a consignment. Officers placed Rana under technical surveillance and tracked his movements. Acting on the information, the team laid a trap near the DDA Sports Complex, close to Queens Valley School.
Rana was intercepted at the spot and searched. Police said 2.034 kg of heroin was found in his bag. He was taken into custody, and an FIR under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered at the Crime Branch police station. During questioning, Rana allegedly revealed that he was part of an organised gang involved in drug supply. He told investigators that he had procured the heroin from Ganga Parshad, alias Vicky, who was based in West Delhi.
Police said further investigation showed that Ganga Parshad sourced the heroin from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. From there, the contraband was brought to Delhi in bulk and supplied to local distributors and retail sellers through associates like Rana.
Based on fresh inputs and technical surveillance, the Crime Branch traced Ganga Parshad’s location to Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi.
A second team conducted a raid and arrested him from the area. Three mobile phones were seized from Ganga Parshad. Police said these devices were used to coordinate drug procurement and distribution across states. No drugs were recovered from him at the time of arrest.
Investigators said the syndicate followed a layered supply model. Heroin was sourced from Bareilly, moved to Delhi through couriers, and then distributed locally using two-wheelers to avoid suspicion. Payments and coordination were handled through multiple mobile phones.
Police also disclosed that Ganga Parshad is a repeat offender. He has been previously booked in an NDPS case by the Special Cell in 2019. He is also named in cases related to culpable homicide, assault and excise violations.
Officials said the seized scooty was used to deliver heroin to buyers across Delhi-NCR. Forensic examination of the phones and financial analysis are being carried out to trace money trails and identify other members of the network.
The Crime Branch said efforts are on to trace the source of the heroin in Bareilly and to identify buyers and sellers linked to the syndicate. Police added that more arrests are likely in the coming days as the investigation progresses.
