PM speaks with Amir of Kuwait on West Asia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, as tensions continue to rise in West Asia.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders “exchanged views on the evolving security situation in West Asia.”
The MEA said the Prime Minister “expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions” and reaffirmed India’s “strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
During the conversation, Modi also reiterated India’s longstanding position that the crisis should be resolved through diplomatic means. The statement said he “reiterated the call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy for earliest restoration of peace and stability.”
The Prime Minister also thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for its support to the Indian community in the Gulf nation. According to the MEA, Modi “thanked His Highness the Amir for his personal attention to the continued well-being and the safety of the large Indian community in Kuwait.”
The phone call comes amid growing concerns over the security situation in West Asia, with India closely monitoring developments in the region while emphasising the need for peace, stability and diplomatic engagement.
