PM Museum marks Kisan Diwas with students

The Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML), a premier national institution dedicated to preserving and showcasing the legacy of India’s Prime Ministers, successfully organised a Kisan Diwas Programme at the Pradhanmantri Sangra-halaya on Tuesday to commemorate the 123rd Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister
Charan Singh. The programme paid tribute to India’s farmers while sensitising students on organic farming and environmental responsibility and to the sustainable development. The programme was graced by Dr Ram Chander Sihag, Padma awardee and eminent Indian scientist renowned for his pioneering work in Apiculture and Pollination Ecology, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. In his address,
Dr Sihag highlighted the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and encouraged students to develop interest for natural farming and the protecting our environment. He was joined on the panel by Yash Dayal Sharma, young entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Fertile Beeghas and Dr Nimish Kapoor, distinguished science communicator and author. The panel conducted an interactive seminar with studentsfocusing on organic farming, sustainability and innovation in agriculture.
Students enjoyedparticipating in a vermicompostmaking workshop by Yash Dayal Sharma, gaining hands-on exposure to eco-friendly waste management and farming techniques. They also took part in a creative pot decorating (kulhads) workshop, encouraging environmental awareness through artistic expression. As a token of appreciation, all participating students were presented with plant saplings in eco-friendly kulhads, reinforcing the message of sustainability.
Ashwani Lohani, Director, PMML, said that the event organised to mark the 123rd Birth Anniversary of the 6th Prime Minister, Charan Singh, is especially meaningful today, as organic farming is being actively promoted at present. The Kisan Diwas Programme successfully combined education, interaction and experiential learning, reflecting the ideals championed by Shri Charan Singh and strengthening awareness about farmers’ contributions and sustainable development among the younger generation.
