PM Modi, Netanyahu talk Gaza, terrorism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders exchanged New Year greetings and discussed developments related to the Gaza Peace Plan, while reaffirming their shared commitment to combating terrorism.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Prime Minister Netanyahu briefed Modi on the progress and implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s long-standing position in favour of a fair, sustainable, and lasting peace in the region.
“The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s consistent support for efforts towards a just and durable peace,” the PMO said, adding that both leaders expressed optimism about stability and prosperity for the people of the region.
During the conversation, Modi and Netanyahu also reviewed the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and identified key priorities for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the coming year. The leaders noted that their partnership is anchored in shared democratic values and strong mutual trust.
The two leaders strongly reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, agreeing that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be firmly countered. They reaffirmed their resolve to work together with greater determination to address the global threat posed by extremist violence.
In addition, Modi and Netanyahu exchanged views on a range of regional and international developments of mutual interest and agreed to remain in close contact as these issues evolve.In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi described the conversation as warm and productive. “Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel,” he wrote. “We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead and reaffirmed our shared resolve to fight terrorism.”
The call underscores the continued momentum in India-Israel relations, particularly in areas of strategic cooperation, security, and diplomatic engagement amid ongoing regional challenges.
