PM Modi inaugurates Jodhpur Airport's new terminal, launches revamped UDAN scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport and launched the Modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) Scheme, aimed at expanding regional air connectivity and making air travel more accessible across India.
Built at a cost of ₹480 crore, the new terminal spans over 23,000 square metres and is designed to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually, significantly boosting aviation infrastructure in Rajasthan.
The revamped UDAN scheme comes with a financial outlay of ₹28,840 crore over the next 10 years. It focuses on developing 100 additional aerodromes from existing unserved airstrips, expanding regional flight routes and increasing operational support to improve connectivity in remote and underserved regions. The initiative is expected to strengthen tourism, trade and economic development while making air travel affordable for more people.

Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Balotra, where he will dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects worth around ₹1.06 lakh crore. These projects span transport, energy, railways and urban development, reflecting the government's continued focus on infrastructure-led growth.
