PM Modi congratulates VD Satheesan after Kerala CM Oath Ceremony

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated V. D. Satheesan after he took oath as the new Chief Minister of Kerala and assured full support from the Centre to the newly formed state government.
In a post on X written in Malayalam, PM Modi extended his best wishes to Satheesan and said the Central Government would provide all possible assistance to help fulfil the aspirations of the people of Kerala.
VD Satheesan was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Kerala at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram along with a 20-member cabinet earlier in the day.
The Congress-led United Democratic Front secured a decisive victory in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, winning 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly and ending a decade-long rule of the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front.
The Indian National Congress emerged as the single largest party with 63 seats, while ally Indian Union Muslim League won 22 seats. The Left Democratic Front was reduced to 35 seats in the Assembly.
Satheesan’s appointment marks a major political shift in Kerala, with the new government expected to focus on governance reforms, employment generation and infrastructure development in the state.
