President’s assent to G RAM G bill
President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday gave her assent to the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, the Rural Development Ministry said. The VB-G RAM G Bill, 2025, was passed by Parliament, amid Opposition protests. It seeks to replace the existing rural employment law, MGNREGA, and guarantees 125 days of wage employment per rural household per financial year. President Murmu later in the day hosted an “At Home” reception at Rashtrapati Nilayam, one of the Presidential Retreats in Hyderabad. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy were among the dignitaries who attended the event. Murmu arrived here on December 17 as part of her winter sojourn at the Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bolarum, Secunderabad. The President visits the Rashtrapati Nilayam at least once a year and conducts official business.
CM Nitish kumar to meet pm modi
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached Delhi on Sunday for a two-day tour during which he is expected to meet top NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to sources close to the JD(U) chief, Kumar will be in Delhi for the first time after being sworn in for a record fifth consecutive term a month ago. Sources said expansion of the State Cabinet could figure prominently in the talks, with the exercise expected to take place after Makar Sankranti. There also has to be a replacement for Nitin Nabin, who recently resigned from the State Cabinet upon being appointed as the BJP’s national working president.
