Passenger train catches fire at Bihar’s Sasaram Station

A passenger train bound for Patna caught fire at Sasaram railway station in Bihar, triggering panic among passengers and people present at the platform.
The incident took place at platform number six of Sasaram station when the Sasaram–Patna fast passenger train was preparing for departure around 6 am. Suddenly, smoke and flames were noticed coming out of one of the coaches.
Initial reports suggest that a suspected short circuit may have triggered the fire inside the coach. The blaze quickly spread, forcing an emergency response from railway authorities.
Railway Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after sustained efforts. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, though one coach was completely gutted in the fire.
Passengers and station staff panicked as thick smoke engulfed the area, but timely evacuation helped avoid injuries.
Officials have begun an investigation into the exact cause of the fire and have ordered an inspection of the affected train. The damaged coach is being detached, and the train’s schedule is expected to be revised after safety clearance.
This incident comes shortly after a similar fire-related case involving a Rajdhani Express in Madhya Pradesh, prompting renewed scrutiny of fire safety systems in railway coaches across the country.
