Pak security forces kill 5 terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa operations

Pakistan security forces killed 5 terrorists during separate intelligence-based operations in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army, the operations were carried out in the Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts on May 7 and 8 following intelligence inputs regarding militant activity.
4 terrorists linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were killed during an operation in the Tank district after an exchange of fire with security personnel.
In a separate operation conducted in Dera Ismail Khan, another TTP militant was killed during a military engagement with security forces.
The army said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terrorist attacks in recent years, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, where militants frequently target police personnel, law enforcement agencies and security forces.
The surge in violence intensified after the banned TTP ended its ceasefire agreement with the Pakistani government in 2022.
