Over 600 get lifetime memberships of Roshanara Club

Over 600 new members have been granted lifetime membership of the iconic Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Roshanara Club. It has a unique legacy as the cradle of Indian cricket and the birthplace of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
With this membership initiative, the DDA continues to provide an opportunity for sports enthusiasts and heritage aficionados to become part of an enduring legacy, one that has witnessed history and nurtured excellence, it said on Tuesday. The new members will now join this legacy and will be able to avail themselves of the exclusive facilities at Roshanara Club, including the newly launched Clubhouse, which offers F&B services, a card room, and a gymnasium.
All the club facilities will be available for members and their dependants. Members can bring up to six guests.
The list of members, comprising 339 in the non-government category and 298 in the Government category, will shortly be uploaded on the official website for public information.
Under the direct supervision and guidance of Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena, the DDA introduced this rare opportunity for sports enthusiasts to secure lifetime membership of the iconic and heritage Roshanara Club.
The meticulously restored Roshanara Club now offers a wide array of state-of-the-art facilities, including indoor amenities like a reception, main lounge, card and billiards rooms, kids' play area, dining hall, banquet, library, swimming pool with changing rooms, gym and fitness centre, squash, board and badminton hall, as well as a yoga, sauna and steam area.
Outdoor facilities have been upgraded to include grass, clay, and synthetic lawn tennis courts, cricket grounds and practice pitches, mini football and basketball zones, and a dedicated jogger's park.
Particular attention has been paid to preserving the club's architectural legacy, with the European-style doors and windows, Mangalore-tiled roof, and intricate wooden trusses all carefully restored. Antique chandeliers and original furnishings have been refurbished to revive their classic charm.
DDA Roshanara Club, sprawling over 22 acres of green serenity in the heart of North Delhi, now over a century old, was officially taken over by the civic body DDA on 29th September 2023 and given a new lease of life under the continuous guidance of the Lt Governor.
Furthering the vision of Fit India and promoting sports culture, the DDA provides a wide range of sports activities across its extensive network of sports infrastructure in the national capital.
This includes 18 sports complexes, 4 mini sports complexes, and 3 golf courses, reaffirming DDA's long-standing commitment to making high-quality sports facilities accessible to the public.
