Over 15,000 visit Delhi’s Jan Kalyan camps on opening day

More than 15,000 Delhi residents visited Jan Kalyan Shivir camps on the opening day of a three-day outreach programme launched by the Delhi Government, with the highest turnout recorded in Trilokpuri, East Loni Road, and Savitri Nagar. According to official figures, 15,186 people attended the camps on June 18 across 42 Jan Suvidha Kendras set up in different parts of the city. Residents visited the centres to obtain information about welfare schemes, complete documentation and registration formalities, and seek solutions to grievances related to Government services.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the strong response on the first day reflected growing public confidence in doorstep delivery of Government services. She described the Jan Kalyan Shivir initiative as an effective mechanism for ensuring that welfare schemes and public services reach citizens without requiring them to visit multiple Government offices.
The largest footfall was reported at the Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya centre in Trilokpuri, which received 1,280 visitors. The East Loni Road centre recorded 874 visitors, while the Savitri Nagar centre registered 841 attendees. Significant participation was also reported at centres located in Najafgarh Stadium, Goyla Dairy Road, Palam Colony, and Inderpuri.
Government officials said residents approached various departments for assistance related to ration cards, Ayushman cards, pension schemes, water connections, Aadhaar registration, e-Shram cards, the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana, and the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.
At several locations, citizens not only received information about available schemes but also completed application and registration procedures on the spot. Officials from multiple departments were stationed at each centre to provide guidance and process requests.
The camps are being organised from June 18 to June 20 as part of the Delhi Government’s effort to bring public services closer to residents. Authorities said the initiative aims to reduce the need for citizens to travel between different Government offices for routine work and welfare-related applications.
The Chief Minister said the objective of the programme extends beyond awareness campaigns. She said the Government’s focus is to ensure that eligible residents receive the benefits of welfare schemes and that pending grievances are addressed quickly through direct interaction with officials.
The Chief Minister noted that many residents who find it difficult to visit Government offices during regular working hours have welcomed the initiative. She expressed confidence that attendance would continue to remain high during the remaining two days of the programme.
Following the response on the first day, the Government has directed all participating departments to strengthen arrangements at the centres and ensure smooth service delivery. Officials have been instructed to provide timely guidance, maintain proper facilities, and assist residents in completing necessary procedures without delays.
The camps are operating daily from 10 am to 5 pm and offer access to multiple Government services under one roof. The administration expects thousands more residents to visit the centres before the programme concludes.
Officials said the early response indicates strong public interest in welfare programmes when services are made easily accessible at the local level. The Government believes the initiative can help improve the delivery of benefits and strengthen engagement between citizens and public agencies across Delhi.
