One dead, four injured as car rams parked trucks on Kiratpur-Manali Highway

A man from Haryana was killed and four others injured after the car they were travelling in hit three trucks, including two parked on the roadside, on the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane highway in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district early Sunday, August 16, police said.

The deceased was identified as Akash, 25, while the injured were identified as Vivek, 20, Sachin, 19, Praveen, 27, and Piyush, 19 all residents of Gopalpur Gazi village in Haryana's Rewari district, police said.

According to police, the accident occurred around 12:30 am near Alsu Chowk in Sundernagar, when Vivek, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle and collided with two trucks parked on the roadside.

The impact was severe enough that the car also struck a truck moving towards Nalagarh, police said.

Police and locals rushed the injured to AIIMS Bilaspur, where they are undergoing treatment, according to police.

Further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
